Quote:i will agree that there are a lot of politics that go into the ny contests. it is very hard for unknowns to come out of no where to win.
exactly. breaking into the skate scene in NYC is hard enough but why keep giving the same heads coverage? why keep gasing the same dudes who are already getting checks, who already have video parts, already in mags, who are already in the game? why not spread the love?
Quote:however, at the end of the day they don't just give the win out to a 5Boro rider just because he rides for 5Boro. the person that has won the event(s), has for the most part deserved it.
now that doesn't mean that certain dudes that make it to the finals deserve to be there. it also doesn't mean that certain dudes who get cut deserve to get cut. i dont think the solution is to cut 5Boro riders out of the contests.
you'll have to excuse me, its not just 5boro riders, but also the people who are down with 5boro. it could be official, zoo, but what difference does it make? you're all down with each other so its all the same shit.
its simple, either you're cool because you stay jocking XYZ team and their riders or you're uncool because you're not jockin XYZ team and their riders....so when does ones skateboarding actually come into play? see how gay that shit is.
Quote:the contests need independent judges that have no ties or affiliation with nyc skating...
actually what they need to do is have a raffle. basically handout some tickets for those who are interested in judging, then pick RANDOM numbers out of a hat. whoevers number gets called gets to be a judge. pick 5 random dudes/kids you have a fair contest on your hands. this would keep things fair and unbiased, but in reality, theres a better chance of me growing 4 testicles than having a fair contest in NYC.
